Landscape photography is possibly one of the most popular genres, so we'll be looking at how you can improve your shots and help your photos stand out from the crowd. We will be focusing on composition, panoramas, equipment tips and settings to use.
All skill levels welcome! The professional photography instructor will be there to provide advice, feedback and tips on how to improve your photos and camera skills.
Black and White Photography Meetup

Introduction to Black and White Photography. What makes a good Black and White shot?
We will look at the contrast and using textures. How does the camera see the image and how do we create Black and White images in a camera or in post-production. We will look for some good examples and set some exercises.
This is a more advanced course and assumes you understand the basics of photography and controlling your camera.

People, cafes, vendors, street merchants, buskers, historic buildings, art installations and much more. The power of observation underpins the art of great street photography. Learning to "see" interesting detail is a practised skill and we introduce you to easy methods that will open your photographer's eye and expose you to a world that is alive with detail. The most rewarding part of the class is learning how to approach interesting people and have them willingly pose for you.
We will also go over settings, focusing techniques and lens choices common to street photography to help us capture those random chance encounters.
Natural Light Portraits

This Natural Light Portrait Meetup will explore how to create stunning portraits using natural light and outdoor backgrounds. You'll learn how to identify and manipulate flattering light in less controlled environments, outside of a studio setting.
We'll also focus on collaborating with your subject to capture their personality and style, covering posing techniques and how to set your subject at ease. Technical skills such as accurate focusing and metering for skin tones will also be discussed.
Note: We encourage you to bring a friend or family member to be your model. Practicing with someone familiar will enhance your learning experience.

Speed Landscape Drawing and Painting

The focus of this two-hour structured session is "speed" and "form", i.e. capturing the essence of a subject. You will be guided to complete some "warm-up" colour and drawing exercises and prepared for doing ink and watercolour-based painting in the session. You will learn how to quickly sketch and capture multiple subjects in the garden with ink and wash technique. You will be advised to keep things rather loose and time your drawing/painting.
You will have a chance to meet and greet like-minded people, choose your own subjects in the garden and be guided to complete the exercises, and artwork and have some takeaway homework with the learned technique. All levels and experiences are welcome.
